You know what I would do were I them? Id first have a show of awesome power,like blowing up some valuable sightseeing trap that everyone goes to,the dust would clear and there would be absolutly nothing,then Id reinstate the object,hey Im an alien billions of lightyears ahead of mankind,remember?
