Sure it establishes fear. The media is in it strictly for the money. And just for the record, this movie is based on a whole array of stories and drama from many sources. It's made to scare people. By the way, there were no recorded Nome abductions by aliens. A number of people disappeared over a period of about 10 years. Some of them were located while others were known as heavy drinkers or as having questionable associations. I wouldn't take this movie seriously as to it's accuracy.

come now G2V,dont tell me this would happen to you and you wouldnt be frightend half to death,its a horrible experience and those that have read about it and seen documentaries are the ones that would be most afraid,they know whats coming.

I agree fundamentally, but I also think that people find what they look for in this subject. All I am saying is that people tend to project aspects of abduction that they want others to emphasize. Why don't we ask 7thstranger to make comment on this one.

Huh....? It would be better to ask about an abduction experience from someone who has not been abducted?

Since we are talking abductions here...........a 1987 article by Hopkins on why he thinks the aliens act the way they do regarding abducting humans,

Excellent thesis regarding the psychological damage of many abductees. His (Hopkin's) examination of whether ETs are morally indifferent (callous/selfish) or simply unable to relate to human emotions, bonding, intimacy, is well expressed in some of the abduction examples. Some of them sent chills through my spine. He used one example of how human scientists stalked and abducted the mother of two bear cubs for years and how the terror of being stalked, drugged and medically prodded may have damaged her psyche. One is left to ponder whether the human scientists were justified in scientific urgency (saving the bear from extinction by monitoring the effects of her damaged environment for example?) or whether their own assumptions of animal emotions were callously calculated. Hopkins then makes the correlation by suggesting that ETs look upon humans as the human scientists regarded what was assumed a dumb animal.

He uses several amazing abduction encounters and mentions that the ETs conducting the mission seem to react with great surprise (perhaps some alarm) at the terror and panic emotions projected by human subjects. That ETs are either completely unable to process human emotion or are indifferent to the long term effects of multiple abductions juxtaposed with the urgency of their purpose. Hopkins also states that he firmly chooses to believe the former hypotheses.

I concur with Hopkin's argument, that though we may perceive ETs as a highly intelligent extraterrestrial race, this does not quantify the standard of empathy and moral expectation of humans. In addition, I wouldn't say that humans are necessarily unique in this aspect of sentience. The example of the bear may be enough to say that anything that thinks can be damaged, even as we can.

I think in her case, she has mentioned a relationship of familiarity with her abductors and has described the personalities of two of the beings. Accordingly, one of them despises humans. The other feels some empathy. In any case, it is up to her to choose whether to relate such things to people in general.

And this is why I try to discourage fear mongering by non-abductees. This type of reaction is based on lack of information, rather than direct knowledge. It also serves to discourage real abductees from challenging false conclusions. If people are trying to get to the bottom of it, it's more prudent to follow where the path leads, rather than chopping away through unmapped territory.

I do not take anything Hollywood puts out as true even when they say it is based on real cases. The small amount of truth in those kinds of movies is miniscule at best.
Movies are for entertainment....not for answers and certainly not to be taken seriously, imo.
I just want to see it and be entertained and see how this movie address abductions......plus I like scary movies lol.
