The Royal Society goes back 350 years and is an important group....but the panelists involved with this et debate are somewhat different and are not all scientists.

Confirmed panelists
Ivan Almar, Stephen Baxter, James Benford, David Brin, Milan Cirkovic, Richard Crowther, Kathryn Denning, Steven Dick, Stephane Dumas, Frans von der Dunk, John Elliott, Lisa Kaltenegger, Claudio Maccone, Michael Michaud, Mazlan Othman, Ted Peters, Margaret Race, Seth Shostak, John Smart, Nicholas Tosca, Doug Vakoch, Clement Vidal, Felisa Wolfe-Simon, Alexander Zaitsev

Baxter, Benford, and Brin are sci-fi writers...Othman is the new UN 'alien ambassador'...and of course Shostak is part of SETI. It would be interesting to see who the others are.

How so..? Groups like this regularly host discussions on various science and related topics. It should surprise no one that they would eventually host one about the ufo enigma.
And if this was meaningful why are no ufologists invited who certainly know more about the enigma than anyone on this list.

I think it's great that science is taking more of an interest in this mystery but imo it has nothing to do with imminent disclosure.

That could be,.....perhaps SETI is trying to garner more support and funding?

Im betting you hit the nail on its head Dr.Wu,SETI and Seth Shostack committed some big big boo boos and this just might stir interest in SETI again.Imagine Seth Shostack heads up SETI and scoffs at the idea of ufos and aliens, taint right somehow he could use some lessons from Kaku.
