Life on Earth could have grown from the broken remains of alien viruses that, although dead, still contained enough information to give rise to new life. Scientists have speculated that life could have come to Earth from space — a notion called panspermia — since the 1870s, when Lord Kelvin suggested microbes could have ridden here on a comet or meteor. Others have suggested tiny organisms could cross the galaxy embedded in dust grains, which could be nudged from one planetary system to another by the slight pressure of stars’ radiation. However, most astrobiologists think that same radiation spells a death sentence for delicate microbes. “That essentially kills panspermia in the classical sense,” said astrobiologist Rocco Mancinelli of the SETI Institute in Mountain View, California. But maybe not, says astronomer Paul Wesson, a visiting researcher at the Herzberg Institute of Astrophysics in Canada. In an upcoming paper in Space Science Reviews, Wesson argues that even if the actual microbes are dead on arrival, the information they carry could allow life to rise from the charred remains, an idea he calls necropanspermia. |

| The first known mention of the term was in the writings of the 5th century BC Greek philosopher Anaxagoras |

| However, the site does not explain how they got into his mouth. The story is that Atum used auto-fellatio and ejaculated Shu and Tefnut into his mouth. He then spat them out. |

could not pass up bumping this old thread, AG
![]() from the article: I admit, i clicked on the thread because you said zombies... and i loves zombies... but i love this topic! Panspermia is not a new idea, but who knew it was called panspermia!?! Ok, I challenge you ALL to use the word panspermia in a conversation this week, and you will get extra style points if you happen to mention necropanspermia in the same conversation!! :-lol:-lol:-lol also.. Wilhelm and I were talking about extraterrestrial life in another thread and this article also pointed out that life would be less likely to survive if it had to travel distances further than within our own solar system, supporting a point he made. ![]() ![]() ~Elara |

And what's wrong with this picture...?
Why is it that every alien who has allegedly found earth appears to be humanoid and some so much so they look almost exactly like us? Is that likely in evolution on an alien world? There is nothing to show that the universe is anthropic in nature...so how do we account for this ..anomaly? |

There's a school of thought (as well you know) that humankind could have been the result of genetic engineering from et,but of course,if Vallee doesn't concur with this theory, you won't either.
I note you seem to have glossed over the recent post, regaling Vallees' belief in 'nuts and bolts' et craft,lol.....Anomaly.....Solved ![]() |
