The witness had been out walking her dog when...
In Littleborough, Greater Manchester, England a rotating object landed in a quarry at two o'clock in the morning. Police and two others went to investigate, but found nothing. Later that evening in Oakenholt, Clywd, Wales a woman out walking her dog at 6:15 p.m. was surprised when the animal suddenly laid down on the ground and began whining for no apparent reason. Glancing ahead of her, she saw a bright orange hovering spinning sphere. She then looked to her side and saw nearby, standing in the shadows among some bushes, two silvery-garbed humanoid figures who appeared to be smiling. Her dog temporarily distracted her, and when she looked back again the figures were gone. The bright orange sphere then vanished, and the dog ran home barking. (For a nearly identical incident, but one involving missing time, see the account on February 18, 1990 in Germany ).

A telepathic "..Down boy!.." to Fido, and a smile for the lady witness? An intriguing and confusing report. Carol, I'd be interested to hear your comment.

Never heard about this incident before, sounds amazing. Has it been investigated?

Not to beat the same drum , but to me this sounds more like a paranormal phenomenon than an ET visit. Why would aliens do such a thing; make a brief guest appearance and then vanish?

Well, these could be paranormally gifted and friendly ET on a tight schedule, OR they stole time from her, then made her forget. (Here it is my turn to say we don't know!)

We shouldn't underestimate the perspective of dogs, Wu. First the dog is seen by the witness to lie down next to his mistress. Next she sees him running homeward: logically between these two doggy actions something happened, something to upset(?) the animal, like the aliens taking up, then returning its mistress, causing the dog to bolt for safety.

If not a High Strangeness case, it does seem PECULIAR, as the dog responds to unknown stimuli to lie down.

Apparent brevity does not pin down the entities' origin though, in all seriousness. Could be extraterrestrials, nifty demons, telepathic transdimensionals or ghosts from Mars whatever. Yet, memorably, dog whispering ones with a smile....

In another thread, you were leaning toward including this kind of event in an EDH contact.

I have no idea why an alien would do such a thing, nor for that matter why a paranormal entity of any kind would do such.

You must remember that EDH does not only refer to interdimensional objective beings but has also come to include non corporeal events as well as energy beings and even projections from some other realm. At least that's how I use it.
I don't see any clear reason why any explorer from any realm would simply make a bizarre guest appearance and then vanish. This is why I tend to put these things under the paranormal umbrella for lack of a better model. For me the idea that advanced alens are wondering around the countryside doing such absurd things is..well, theater of the absurd.

The fact that animals sense something in no way indicates what these events are. As you pointed out they could be almost any form of paranormal event one wishes to name.
