A what 'if' thread on ET!

What if disclosure happened 10 years ago...how do you think a relationship with ET would evolve...would we get on....would they really help us..or would they be seeking help themselves...we always seem to assume they are going to help man overcome some its problems...but what if they bring some of thier own!???

They might be working to take over our planet. One new book, The Rie of the New American Patriots 2012-2100 claims just that.

Not much evidence for that. Look at the mess we're still in, over 60 years after they came in great numbers.

Ok, you all KNOW I am gonna say this......but what if they DID help us? What if they could cure cancer, diabetes, or any number of fatal illnesses??? What if they could show us how to live in peace with each other??? How to move ahead technologically so that everyone benefits??? How to travel to distant galaxies and meet other species out there???
What if they ARE responsible for our evolution and only seek to guide and help us once they feel we are ready to accept them???

I have a few theories....

1. They are here and we are being controlled, lead, whatever way you want to look at it. Population control was provided by them in the form of illnesses such as Syphlis and AIDS. We are lead into wars etc etc.

2. We could possibly be an experiment...Just see how we can f*ck up a planet all on our own and they keep an observing eye on us from time to time.

3.We are of a matter of interest. They know we exist..they've been here, are here, or visit from time to time, but they don't know how we would react to disclosure. Religions as we know them would be made a mockery of if some truth came out that God didn't exist, for example. The religious fanatics would go nuts.

If disclosure had have happened years ago, it would be fantastic to have the simplistic view that people on this planet would be receptive to any ET's and we would all skip off into the distance hand in hand enjoying the knowledge that we could gain from them, and they in return from us.

Reality is that disclosure prob would bring fear, panic, mistrust and absolute fury from many areas. The 'kick off over anything' brigade would have a field day.

I would like to think we could benefit from legitimate known contact with ET's in a massive way. How brilliant would it be to vastly improve the technology even further than we have already, with no hold backs.
Cures for cancer perhaps? No, I forgot...that keeps the population down quite a bit...silly me.

i say the governments of the world know as much as we do about the existence of ET life; which is, in realty, nothing... this is why, over 60/70 years, there's been no disclosure because there's nothing to disclose....

I disagree over there being nothing to disclose...I agree that most of the governments of the world probably know as much as we do. However I do believe there are some who are privvy to this information.
