Anthropomorphism is the key to industrial applications. I can't think of another way that an organism could attain tech.

The term anthropomorphic is often misundestood and was orirignally meant to ascribe human characteristics to mythical beings, animals, or non living things.
I think using bipedal humanoid fits better when attempting to explain the nature of alien structure, but there is no reason that any sentient being has to be that similar to humans to have technology. That is being anthrocentric and by default assuming that the universe is anthropic in 'design'. Yet the evolution on earth clearly shows that many or even most forms are not humanoid on earth. While it's true that the humanoid one did attain technology there are many reasons why this might be and probably many we don't yet understand.
A sentient alien could have 3 or 4 legs and arms, more than two eyes , and many different configurations of the head and face. Yet we don't see this with our 'space aliens' who have found their way here. Indeed they look very human like in their basic physiognomy.
Most biologists will tell you that this is unlikely to be the case on an alien world and even more unlikely when all the 'aliens' so far encountered here look that way.

I don't really believe that the universe is anthropic in design. I'm just saying if you want to swim fast, you need a torpedo shaped body of a porpoise or a squid. If you hunt and kill organisms relative to your own size, you need teeth and claws. If you want to master life in giant stationary 'trees', you develop opposable thumbs. And if you build tech, you need bifocal eyesight and tactile appendages. Life evolves to meet the environmental niche that the organism inhabits.

Maybe anthro is just a lucky 'roll of the dice'. ????

To tell you the truth, I can't believe that the four armed Martian of ER Burroughs didn't make it to the UFO arena.

Well, as ill equiped as it sounds, the Pascagoula 'aliens' had no discernible face and supposedly had LOBSTER claws. ??? How the hell did they build a craft?

Could have been gloves. Or, robots....

There ya go.....is the humanoid shape in all it's aspects really needed for space travel?

Their have been witness accounts of the greys being telepathic maybe some species are telekanetic, over millions of years their hands may have become less important as their ability to build things by the power of thought alone increased.

Maybe not all of it's aspects, but I still have to go with, 'Yes'. I've been scouring the net for alien physiology that could conceivably develop tech and I just can't find or imagine it.

You are still missing the point.
I'm not saying that alien evolution might not be bipedal or 'humanoid' in some cases but they would still look a lot different than us yet all of the ones that have found their way here are far too similar to us imo.
And the Nordics are almost exactly the same.
This is extremely unlikely.
