It may be junk but it's purpose could've been to sully the reputation of the field, and therefore help hide secrets.

Of course there are other issues but sullying the crash field may have been considered particularly vital.

The "crash field' was sullied long, long before MJ-12 came around. In fact, interestingly enough, it occurred in 1950 when Scully published Newton's story about Aztec.

I always thought that a group like MJ-12 was exactly what would have been done at the time.It was the cold war and this business of ufos quickly became a headache that the country wasnt prepared for at all.A group like MJ-12 would have been just the ticket.
