Default Members Poll - I've Seen A UFO

This seems like a great thread to post my first post on this forum

I've been lurking on these forums for many months now and love reading all of your opinions on the UFO subject.

Yes, I have seen a UFO. I was about 21 years old at the time and witnessed the UFO with two other friends.

The UFO presented as a super-bright orb that was descending in the nighttime sky at an approximate angle of 35 degrees. We could not make out any further details of the UFO based on its considerable distance relative to our location. It was impossible to accurately gauge the size and distance of the object given the conditions it was observed under (i.e. night). I initially thought it was a large meteor because of its size and relatively slow descent. It did not however have an observable "tail". I am an amateur astronomer and have witnessed many strange - but explainable - phenomena, including large meteors entering the atmosphere.

After a couple of seconds of witnessing this "orbs" descent it suddenly stopped. The brilliant white orb just stopped mid-air, high in the sky. It was mind-blowing to watch. The UFO sat motionless in the sky for several seconds and then spontaneously traveled a great distance very quickly to the right, stopped, and the sped to the left, then shot up, stopped, up some more, then down, etc etc. The object behaved in this irregular manner for approximately 40 seconds. Finally the orb stopped and then shot of into the distance at an incredible speed. It left us all a little speechless.

I have considered the possibility that the UFO was "ball lightning", but everything that I have read about ball lightning does not really fit in with what I witnessed. Ball lightning is typically short-lived and does not exhibit the sort of behavior that this UFO exhibited.

I have also considered that maybe the phenomena was the product of a high-powered laser beam reflecting of clouds. But I have rejected this idea primarily because it was a clear night sky at the time and because I have messed around with high powered lasers and know what effects they can produce.

I have also considered that the brilliant white orb may have in fact been a secret military aircraft. The Australian town in which I witnessed the UFO (Wagga Wagga) has quite a large airbase owned by the Royal Australian Air Force. But in hindsight, I personally don't believe that ANY government agency has technology this advanced. Also, if it was SO secret why would they be testing it above a town with a population of 70,000. It doesn't make any sense !?

I have considered, Chinese lanterns, RC devices, most known natural weather phenomena, mirages etc etc. None of these considerations have sat well with what I witnessed.

I suspect that there is a possibility that the UFO was in fact the product of some natural phenomena that is not well understood by the scientific elite. There are theories suggesting that many UFO sightings could be the product of unknown "cosmic" fauna, might it be that ? And ofcourse, there is always the possibility that it could have been a craft of extraterrestrial origin. But if it were intelligent, then why would it fly in such a "seemingly" erratic pattern ?

Oh, and I did end up seeing a close-up image of the UFO on the local news. Someone (i dont know who) recorded the UFO on the night that my friends and I saw it ! It appeared to be a disk made up of 2 (or 3) "rings" and colours. The video footage was rather grainy owing to it being filmed at night with a regular camcorder. The clip was also very short, explaining the reason for this will lead me into writing an other 2 paragraphs and I think I have babbled on for long enough

Well, because he hasn't responded, and I have seen him viewing this thread, I think Strangestar is Borg for sure. Or he isn't and he is afraid to make a reply....

Sam.... I say it's highly unlikely, maybe even bordering on impossible that we're the only sentient beings in this vast universe of ours. I feel it's quite possible unknown entities in the past have visited this planet or indeed are here now! But all the stories claims footage etc etc do not convince me this has/is happening, YET!
I've never had the pleasure of visiting Australia but I'm pretty sure it exists going by the convincing data so far. If there was the same amount of convincing data regarding ufos then this subject wouldn't be a strange phenomenon anymore! well, it's just my opinion

Peace & a happy new year to you..

Hi Strangestar...welcome a board. Whether or not you are someone we knew as Borg...matters not, imo, but please tell us more about yourself and clear up that issue before things get out of control......again!!!
What year did you see this orb???
Perhaps you can post again and tell us the reason for the short grainy clip.

Hi Dee !

Wow, it doesn't take much to get the conspiracy coolaid flowing, lol. I better cool the waters before the torches and pitchforks come out.

No, I am not Borg of UFO Evolution. I am however familiar with Borg (the human forum-dwelling kind). I have after all been lurking quietly on these forums for some months and I am familiar with the opinions (and online personalities) of many of you. Creepy, I know.

Believe it or not, there are more then one Australians interested in the UFO puzzle

Dee, I saw the UFO in January/ February of 2000. I regret not writing the exact date down because I have forgotten the exact date over the years.

Regarding the short clip on TV. The reason why it was short was because it was part of an advertisement break "bulletin" informing viewers on what would be covered on the 6 o'clock news. The clip was only a couple of seconds and was briefly headlined "UFO spotted in Wagga Wagga, watch the 6'oclock news for full coverage". They said a full report of the UFO video would be shown on the 6 o'clock news.

I waited for the 6 o'clock news. I remember even having my VHS ready to record the footage of the news. I watched the 6 o'clock news from beginning to end. There was no UFO coverage. They never covered the UFO footage, they scratched the coverage of the UFO that was sighted in Wagga. I watched the local news every day for the next week (both morning, evening, and late evening news), just in case I misunderstood when the UFO report would be aired. It never happened. I never heard anything about the sighting again. Nothing on the local news and nothing on the local newspapers.

I have tried to get my hands on the UFO footage but have been unsuccessful on each occasion.

Now that's some genuine conspiracy bait for the conspiracy theorists out there
