In the mid 70's I was involved in an abduction scenario with my girl friend Tammy, right in our fourth story apartment. Since then I have studied the subject with deep personal interest, seeking out others who have had personal experiences with whom I can compare notes.
Currently, I am a member of several UFO forums and have created a new, private 'believer's' forum here for people who have had experiences, sightings, abductions or who just believe.
My objective is to share and learn with others in the hope of obtaining a clearer picture of how humanity can find it's way into the broader community of intelligences.

“Though I am avidly engaged in the work of investigating and researching UFO sightings and alien abductions stories, I am still a human being attuned to some traditional human concepts and hold true to the knowledge that there is a higher power and that He does watch over us in ways we cannot perceive.”
From what I've seen over the years with respect to government information control, I get the impression that government studies of the extraterrestrial question deal more with the nature of the information and the social ramifications, rather than the given reality.
For example, I've examined the claims of Master Sgt. Robert O. Dean, formerly deployed at NATO's Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE), as a records clerk with COSMIC top secret clearance. During the sixties while at (SHAPE) Dean had access to the most sensitive documents of the military during the height of an intense cold war. He claims that an officer gave him the top secret security analysis regarding security and UFOs after he complained of routine boredom. It was a three year security assessment of UFOs including a historical review of UFO sightings and alleged alien contacts, as far back as the time of Alexander the Great and the Roman occupation of the Middle East. According to him, he became obsessed with this idea of visitation and over a period of months, reviewed thousands of pages. One of the conclusions of this study was that UFOs were not a military threat left unprovoked. Nevertheless, Dean states that at some point before or perhaps during the investigation, a NATO air force general gave a standing 'attack' order pertinent to any UFO encounter in NATO territory, since UFO formations were routinely tracked on radar from the Soviet Union across western Europe. Accordingly, a number of our aircraft were subsequently lost and some of the pilots were unable to escape the cockpit.
That's a little background information. One focus of this comment regards some of the other findings of this study and it's implications. The investigation was headed by the US along with several other NATO nations, England, France, Italy and Germany (I believe). Some of the people inducted into this study group were civilians, history professors, scientists and other educated professionals. They were collectively part of the process of intelligence gathering and assessment. What came of this is much akin to what is even discussed between ordinary people in internet discussion forums today. Much of the information gathered for the investigation from 1961 to 1964, carries the same themes of the current public psyche after more than forty years of official cover-up. This would include information regarding individual contact cases, alien messages and the ever present hybrid program. One might also recall the popular idea of the genetic evolution of mankind via the extraterrestrial intervention theory, which came from Eric Von Daniken (Chariots of the Gods). Dean seems to have become romanced with all of this information from his study of the top secret report and believes that mankind is the product of a highly advanced extrasolar race that has been with us since the dawn of time. Interestingly, his life mate (Marcia Shaffer) was interviewed more recently and refers to herself as a gifted psychic, medium and a long time alien contactee. The extraterrestrial mantra of both Bob Dean and Marcia Shaffer are cued in with the standard popular culture of blended old and new world concepts. Free flowing ideas integrating new age variations of Veda Buddhism, Creationism, Reincarnation and even Spirit Mediation (psychic alien contact).
Also, the Billy Meier story purports that human aliens from the DAL Universe taught him that there is no God and that all living things coalesce to form the greater conscious, form and drive of a procreative universe. Meier's popular version of alien teachings seems to coincide with his years living in the Middle East, studying eastern religions.
The focus of my point is based on the fact that something akin to a cult movement seems to have torn into the fabric of human tradition that has historically acted as a social cement upon the Earthly masses. There are some basic pros and cons regarding this, deserving further discussion. Foremost, forms of causation behind a psycho-social phenomena as an object of great interest to human governments. One object of social control is to maintain traditional belief systems that encourage compliance with established hierarchical institutions. The UFO enigma has at the very least challenged the rule of traditional concept and even the authority of government in protecting it's citizens. This threat to the authority and control establishment underlies the common need for a logic which propounds denial underscored by rabid cultural ridicule based on dismantling the public notion of a viable, commonality of information.
Governments recognize the supremacy of social cohesiveness through traditional belief systems and are held at the highest order in terms of national security. Propaganda, intimidation and even assassination are tools of complicity in maintaining a culture of complacency. Social cohesiveness is the basis of government existence and control. The intelligence community places religion as one of several important factors in civil maintenance through applied rules of conduct and cultural expectation. These are the public belief systems and traditions which tend to oversee society in ways that place individuals under the scrutiny of a chosen or respected few, such as Pastors, Rabbis or Imams, also regarded as operatives who can be utilized to maintain and influence populations. One example is the FEMA pastor program, which enlists pastors to use biblical references in convincing their congregations to 'cooperate' with the government in the event of a civil or national emergency (Marshall Law scenario). According to the material I saw, one pastor who refused to participate in the program stated that the purpose is to get respected community leaders to convince their church members to voluntarily turn over their hunting rifles (and other weapons) to military personnel and government agents in a future marshal law scenario. A scenario which is apparently anticipated and being incrementally enacted upon the American people.
In conclusion, the epicenter of the logic of social cohesiveness has at least a two fold application. It is a targeted avenue for the acquisition of constitutional rights and personal freedoms. It is also a precondition to maintaining a self-propagating cooperative that ensures institutional viability. Humans are also dependent upon the idea of institutional guidance. Although it has its advantages, this also has an inherent quality of internal and external manipulation which does not always have the best interests of the individual or the collective masses.
I see a common desertion of ideals traditionally authored by institutional and long established human belief systems which haven't changed much in millennium. This is happening especially in the west, but also in the east on a lessor scale. I think that for the part of governments, the UFO axiom is considered a threat of free thinking and a consequence of extreme individuality and expression. As for the technological advantages, governments would, under the accepted rule of institutionalism, reserve the benefits for a select few who hold the reigns of power.
Social fragmentation through individuality is any government's enemy in the long run. The UFO/alien visitation movement (and I am not saying it isn't based on the presence of real extraterrestrials) is considered a huge element in the deconstruction of ancient psycho-social patterns associated with predictable and controllable behaviors.
The emotionalism Bob Dean displayed in some of his interviews has captured my deepest interest for the potential I hoped for in humanity's complex entanglement of competing interests. Even after having been a priest for more then a quarter century, I eventually succumbed to the hopeless failure of institutional salvation. I, like many, have given into the reality that religion is a nothing but a veil of righteousness, behind which lurks the definable, divisive nature of man's appetites in bleak opposition to the ideals of his omniscient Creator. In traditional belief systems, God is an incomprehensible measure of authority and power from whom flows an unreachable mortal object of perfection, peace and longevity. This has been or is being replaced with new age concepts from ancient, eastern religious and philosophical precepts, such as that of Greek philosophy, Buddhism and now extraterrestrials, who perform miraculous feats through technological abilities in a godless, self replicating universe.
Due to several factors, including a climactic social awareness of institutional failure, the transposition of this revised sense of hope compels many to rationalize their unwanted dependence upon religious and governmental institutions. This social phenomenon seems to have taken root in what some see as a pseudo spiritual contrivance with extraterrestrials as the authors of an impending biblical climax to a full blown (Armageddon type) global conflict. This would be followed by a new age of enlightenment under the leadership of a wiser extraterrestrial collective, rather then the coming of the risen Christ.
During three decades of sifting through the confusion of UFO reports and disinformation, I have gathered correlations which tend to parallel some of the claims and ideas of Sgt. Dean from his alleged top secret analysis. I had come to similar conclusions based on what I could glean from a logical systematization of the data. That extraterrestrial theme points to a typically unworldly, yet mortal reply to the complexity of the Earth human quandary, suffocating on a polluted, over populated planet. Dean states that it took him many years to come to grips with the conclusions (as he calls them) of this investigation. He admits that he instantly became fascinated and even obsessed with the concept of advanced, extrasolar beings ('our galactic brothers') whose attempts to heal and enlighten us have been met with the hostility of power mongering governments. That part of the whole UFO scenario makes sense. From a common place reference, this revelation does not necessarily forbid us from bowing to unfathomable, distant gods residing in a place called Heaven, who for lack of a better term, sit on their blessings while humanity is summarily condemned to the ravages of industrial progress. There could be a Creator of extraterrestrials. There could be evolved mortal beings anticipating the opportunity to step in once all Earthly institutions have alas collapsed into general global anarchy, under a myriad of causes.
What is most difficult to come to terms with, is the overall suggestion that extraterrestrials have been with mankind since the beginning. That the human being of today evolved through genetic manipulations by extraterrestrials many millennia hence. My primary concern with respect to the Dean story is that he believes that the conclusions report the truth. He accepts that three years of study of this matter has yielded sufficient evidence that in fact (mortal) aliens exponentially advanced the human race genetically. I find this intriguing, since pop-culture and UFO cults have adopted such an ideology. Further, Dean’s life mate is a self proclaimed spiritualist, who sees her abilities of spirit medium and psychic as having to do with a life time of alien contact.
Whether all of this has anything to do with reality or whether it is the product of government control or simply a social phenomena fed by fake UFO investigations, the question of extrasolar civilization yet remains. One thing seems to be clear. During the cold war, both the former Soviet Union and the united NATO command, have amassed intelligence on the matter and have both attempted to militarily engage UFOs (foo fighters) in order to obtain samples of technology. Trained teams on 24-call are available to salvage downed or crashed alien space vehicles and yet governments maintain the highest level of secrecy and official denial that UFO’s are of extraterrestrial origin or that they are even real.
The logical conclusions one can draw from this is that; (1.) governments want the technology to find the vulnerabilities of alien vehicles in order to develop weaponry assuring airspace supremacy; (2.) mastering this technology would also make any one government supreme in both global military and economic supremacy; (3.) in the considering new avenues of institutional control, a government with such a technological advantage would have ultimate covert influence upon the masses in terms of individual privacy, rights and freedoms, without the historic necessity of utilizing institutions that encourage peaceful, societal integration and authoritative respect.
How does this fit in with an actual extraterrestrial presence? Certainly if these people have been around as long as historical accounts indicate, it is very likely that they have created a well developed industry of planetary resource extraction.
Unless the US government has either a treaty or has acquired some advanced form of technology to protect it's interests with disagreeable extraterrestrials, competing interests might eventually lead to conflicts. The Pentagon has been conducting secret satellite missions surveying of the Lunar surface for years. One of the projects being considered, is a Lunar mining base for (HHE) pure Helium. A fusionable fuel which has an output thousands of times that of it's input. A resource said to have huge economic rewards for the first investor to drill into the moon's surface. Quality intelligence gathered from lunar survey missions may have revealed that alien bases are no longer active.
Ultimately, it appears to me at least, that there are critical junctures between the awareness of extraterrestrials, human tradition attaching intellectual and spiritual constraints, and the power structures we are all subject to. I find it most interesting that we live in a time when the planet is declining in its ability to sustain a burgeoning population. This is an era where technology must be specifically applied to planetary exploration and resource development. Also, a time when UFO sightings, alien contacts and messages are happening at a much higher rate than ever before. Sgt. Dean (believes) that these people have an honest agenda. He believes that he met one of them in the Pentagon and that small groups of human extraterrestrials may be working in other areas of government. If this is true, then is it plausible that they have infiltrated some of the highest levels of government and society? Perhaps they are covertly and calculatingly guiding our own government and thus the collective imagination of possibilities. Perhaps the information isn't as muddled as we thought or maybe it is the extraterrestrials who are leaking information about themselves. It does appear in any case that the US intelligence effort attempts to control the social phenomena in ways which serve it's social interests.
For my own sanity, I don't know why one concept of salvation must replace another or why salvation must enter into it. Perhaps there is a Creator we call God and there are also many inhabited planets existing at various levels of spiritual and physical evolution. Perhaps, in the event that mankind doesn't make it, when and if his reality comes crashing down and his planet is on the verge of being laid to waste, Christ will come and extraterrestrials will assist humans in rebuilding their planet with a more progressive vision in mind.
