Hard to say. I'm new to this. The rocks give slightly larger brown eggs. The reds give slightly smaller, lighter brown eggs. They all seem to lay eggs with about the same frequency.

My neighbors tell me that the eggs are of very high quality, based on how high the yolk sits when fried and how light and fluffy they get when scrambled. I feed them organic layer pellets, grit, oyster shells (crushed), flax seed and fresh dandelion greens with grass and wild carrot tops from my back yard + treats (cucumbers, summer squash and raw hamburger). And I distill the water I give them.

Please God,when I die can I come back as one of Darrell's chickens?

My husbands Mom was one for brown eggs,her son my husband wont eat a white shelled egg,my feelings on the subject are that you dont eat the shell just the innards.Rhodies are supposed to be the best btw.

As to egg shell color .. much ado about nothing IMHO. People here in the north east prefer brown shells; whereas, where I'm from in the midwest, white egg shells are preferred. To me, an egg is an egg. Once out of the shell, I can't see any difference between a rhodie egg and a rock egg.
