Do Ghosts Actually Exist?

My own view is that ghosts are " real ". I would say that when our Earthly bodies die our " souls " pass over to another " dimension ". I would think that clothes are all part of the phenonema. The clothes that people " see " are associated with the time period that the " soul " passed over. There is also the possibility that ghosts are a " recording that plays back due to energies that have been trapped in the buildings etc. If the theory of other dimensions has any truth about it there may be the possibility that certain dimensions can " overlap " depending on various circumstances. The truth is we just don't know and we will all have to wait until it is our turn to pass over before we can get any definate answers.

I honestly don't know what I think about the clothing, I know there has been a debate about it but, I think if there was an explanation it would probably be that the "imprint" of ourselves that was left behind materializes into what it last remembers itself being in. In some cases it's definitely possible that the "imprint" is just more confused than aware.

I, for one, do not believe that anything gets "trapped" inside a building. Especially if it is electromagnetic energy. Personally, I think it is left behind by the body and it becomes "active", so to speak, for several underlying reasons that are most likely there for the haunting to occur.

I wont argue with that, I do know there are definitely some cases in which I have heard it almost seems to be an overlapping of something happening. Weird things occur and we can't explain them. I do think this is possible.

I know there probably wont be a definite answer (at least not for some time) and this is just my opinion. It's not anything set in stone.

It's interesting to note that ghosts have actually only been seen to wear "period" dress since the early 20th century. Prior to that, they were seen in more contemporary dress, which kinda fits the idea that ghosts appear as we want them too.

Basically, the stone tape theory but, if that were the case, how come we only see the apparition or ghost and not the surrounding area too ? Surely, if a ghost were being recorded, it would record everything, not just itself ?

I believe that ghosts exist. I was with two other people and all three of us saw a ghost. Interestingly, it was like a looped recording playing over and over: but if we got too close, it disappeared. Later I started having nightmares, and I still have nightmares from time to time that are distinctly related to that incident, even though it wasn't really that scary to begin with.

On the topic of ghosts and clothes, I find that hilarious to think about: why do they NEED clothes. Habit?

Why does a ghost need to hold the handrail? Is he afraid of falling down? It's not like he'll bump his head and die, right?

This is my generally take on the subject. On this poll I parked my vote with No simply because I assumed that the term ghost was referring to the 'soul' or 'spirit' of a deceased individual.

Now I've always been a big fan of the EDH so when dr wu23 suggests that the root cause of a phenomenon lies in forces ". . . bleed[ing] through" from other dimensions, I find that to not only be a cool deduction but a plausible one given the current discourses in theoretical physics.

I'm just waiting on the folks operating the Large Hadron Collider for some answers!

Ive heard something on ghosts, there suppost to be stuck in somekind of time frame. people see them doin the same things like seeing them in one place or doin the same thing. A lot of people who claim to see ghost see monks praying or ghost stud at windows.

So if its true with the time frame theory is true that could explain why they wear clothes, who nose.

I still believe it's possible that ghosts try to communicate with young children. Maybe that's what imginary friends are?

I don't think they exist. What bothers me most is the fact ghosts never tell something actually interesting, they only tell how much they love their families and such, but there are no clear answers to the question what happens after death, or whether there really is a God. Many cultures do have the concept o a ghos or a spirit, but all those ghosts behave differently, and they all say different things on metaphysics. I think the idea of ghosts comes from the mind of people who loved someone who has diseased, and aren't very able to deal with death, or the abstract thought of ''non-existancy''.
