Default Aurora, Texas Metal

MUFON's John Schuessler on supposed recovered Aurora, Texas UFO crash metal = Alunimum.

Material recovered from the well. Soil samples and water samples analyzed. The well capped, sealed since 1957. High concentrations of Alunimum found in well samples.

Molten metal fragments from property owner (son) examined under electron microscope = Alunimum + unknown element.

Archeologist Garth concludes the well is of the proper time period circa the late 1800s.

Ken Cherry from Texas MUFON discusses 1973 investigation - dispersal pattern toward tree. Metal detected in tree via metal detector.

Bill Oates son of Mr. Brawley Oates (deceased property owner) confirmed there was metal at the bottom of the well when it was cleaned out.

Evidence of a windmill found at well area.

Dr. Ted Acworth - Ground penatrating radar (GPR) and EM pulses at gravesite. 6FT X 2.5 FT path found. Location triangulated from vintage photo/ video footage of alleged gravesite.

University Of North Texas particle accelerator test on metal. Spectroscopy - equipment. Protons bombard the sample = Alunimum + high iron content. It does not match any of the current alloys of today.

Interesting but a case isn't proven on the basis of a seemingly good investigation. There have been a number of them and KDR dismisses aurora.

KR says that, but what do you think? You know that I think it was originally a hoax, but that doesn't matter. I'm curious how you figure it.

Pegues said in '79 that Haydon made up the whole thing. Had a real alien been recovered there it wouldn't have been buried but brought to the attention of researchers, or taken by the government.

I have to call bogus debunking to the above. Just because someone in 1979 supposedly claimed it was a hoax doesn't mean it's true. How a small town would have reacted to a UFO crash during the late 1800s is very speculative. You're trying to judge things in a modern context but things were different back then.

That being said a "silvery, metalic" or "alunimum" appearance has been described is a lot of disc sightings. The metallurgical analysis did prove to be unusual.

KDR concurs it was a hoax and he's no skeptic on the subject of crashes.

It would've been of enormous scientific interest in part because of the Martian canal theory in vogue back then. Had there been good grounds to think an alien craft came down, it's hard to believe it would've died like that, without a coverup of course.

I a not trying to pick an argument, but they knew in 1898 is was a joke. Not a hoax. Not a lie, per se, but that's what they did back in 1898, tell tall tales in small newspapers for ratings. It is a common historical phenomenon, and even Twain was a great practitioner of it. People alive then, stated it was never meant to be taken seriously, and there are similar stories in many newspapers.

Another example is the story in Edwards's book, about strange beings which had taken a calf. It was from some liar's club they say.

Who exactly is they? Also why does everyone ignore the metallurgical analysis?

There's no evidence of anything really extraordinary.
