I think it's a decent bet that some large primates/hominids might exist in deep forests but whether or not her hairs are from an actual bigfoot remains to be seen.

Knapp had signed a confidentiality almost 3 years ago, and a paper has been written and is currently being vetted. It was a multi-disciplinary paper from forensic scientists, anthropologists, and others summarizing the data and each providing conclusions and discussions.

She regrets she ever said yes since it has cost her business and money.

She claims she absolutely has sequenced DNA, and the genetic material is uncontaminated DNA, and this has been confirmed by blind studies in University and private labs, in the USA and in other nations. When I say "she" this means the entire team, not just her lab. She is a veterinarian scientist.

A Russian who was on the vette list released his information early which allowed everyone to break parts of their confidentiality agreements, including Knapp, and forced her to make public statements.

There were multiple samples submitted, and there is more data still being processed, and it will for some years to come as long as the money holds out.

The data is hair and skin that was submitted and pre-screened by a group, or groups of Bigfoot researchers and based on case reports, and field investigations.

Many, many samples were excluded as they immediately showed up in the data base as everything from deer to bear.

The ones of most importance sequenced out as mitochondrial material, and tracks back to a divergence from current humans about 15,000 year ago. The material is fresh, not antiquarian. This would make them people, not apes.

There is antiquarian evidence, but it has been filed as it is much harder and more expensive to work with.

That being said, until the data is released, it is still only a discussion.

Based on witness sightings those would be very hairy and ape like looking people then....not at all like home sapiens or even Cro-magnon
but more like hairy primitive Neanderthal types.
Would they qualify as people even, if found, based on current law of the land or would people be able to shoot them for a specimen..?

If the evidence is correct, then they would be human, and shooting one would be murder under the law.

She was asked about the "Gigantopithecus" theory, and she said the evidence extracted was under no circumstances ape, it was human, but a different species than is in the international data banks (which would have included Neanderthal which is apparently in the database).

Until I heard this show and that doctor I really really thought this ape and subject belonged in the paranormal,however after listening to her the other night Im not so sure.It was the question "why hasnt anyone ever found the bones of a Sasquatch* that did it for me.Very very interesting show.

It would not be human unless it's homo sapiens ....is it that dna?
If not then it would not be human but something less that what we leagally call human. And the ones spotted look nothing like homo sapiens.
So imo there is no law that currently covers this and it would not be murder.
