It's all about photogenics and young good looking people on tv.
Always has been. Look at almost any hit reality tv show and it's usually younger people. There are exceptions but not the rule.

My wife and I watch Paranormal Files:Fact /Faked and all the investigators (if that's what one can call them..) are basically young , hip, attractive people. Same with Ghost Hunters...they are all under 50.
