Usually someone like this tells the story many times in many media or public outlets. Compare each version carefully, and research the background of that individual and filter out inconsistencies and take account past errors or overstatements. I think all this guy said was "I saw a box, looked in it, and it had stuff on Roswell". That he said it on C2CAM was news, but it is still a relatively benign statement. As he releases more details, that's when it could get interesting one way or another. I plan on re-listening to his words - maybe even type up a transcript, and see what he says and what he isn't saying.
Well said....., I remain agnostic about this 'whistleblower'.

Default Roswell Craft Not From This Planet

I'm still researching his background as an arm chair sleuth. I have not found his earliest UFO involvement, but I see that he did commentary on that most interesting of movies: Red Dawn. At the web site, below, it states, "... a Military Training Featurette that explains how many of the cast members had to undergo actual military boot camp to prepare for their roles in the film. Chase Brandon, the CIA film liaison, explains how important the training was for the picture ...".

Mr. Brandon does not shy from controversial subjects.

And man, did Red Dawn scare me. A classic "horror" cult film, and high propaganda. I'm trying to remember, but I think I saw it in a church auditorium. Maybe that let's the cat out of the bag on the circles I sometimes travel in.

Red Dawn : DVD Talk Review of the DVD Video

And I just saw this from the Herald Tribune's Billy Cox who ends with this,

Tony Bragalia, who has spent years investigating Roswell. “No doubt they use identifying code and project numbers [at the Archives] — not boxes marked ‘Roswell,’ ‘JFK,’ ‘Bigfoot,’ etc. And he’s got the perfect fallback because he says he can’t offer any other details due to national security. I don’t think it’s official disinformation. I think he’s kind of setting himself up for the book. And it’s too bad because there’s so much stuff about this case that’s real and interesting.

Some testimony is not credible evidence in a court of law. The court of public opinion always begs to differ but science will only recognize what is evidence in court.

Default Roswell Craft Not From This Planet

CIA smacks down former employee

Tuesday, July 10, 2012
by Billy Cox

Whether or not Chase Brandon’s Roswell UFO story has legs obviously depends on the MSM’s inclination to run with the ball. They’ve been warming up to it since June 23, when the retired CIA operative told Coast-To-Coast AM that the Agency had UFO material from the 1947 mystery stashed in its Historical Intelligence Collection files. But if the trend holds, they’ll lose all followup ardor soon enough and it’ll be a dead duck, as usual.

And that’s too bad, because someone here is clearly lying. Last week, De Void asked the CIA if a) its HIC was in possession of Roswell data, and b) would Brandon have had access to that material?Agency PIO Jennifer Youngblood responded Tuesday afternoon: “Our historians have found nothing in the Agency’s holdings to corroborate Mr. Brandon’s specific claims. The CIA has fielded numerous inquiries related to UFOs over the years, and the definitive account of the Agency’s role in UFO studies was published in 1997 and can be found — without redaction — on our website.
“The document can be found here and stands on its own: https://www.cia.gov/library/center-for-the-study-of-intelligence/csi-publications/csi-studies/studies/97unclass/ufo.html

That’s a link to National Reconnaissance Organization historian Gerald Haines’ dubious 1997 assertion that most Cold War UFO sightings can be attributed to U.S. spyplane activity. It has no bearing on the Roswell controversy. And that’s pretty much all the CIA has to offer on Brandon’s claims which, if true, are pure dynamite.

Reached at home, HIC curator Hayden Peake declined to provide additional information. “My comments are all in that statement released today,” he said.

Although Brandon claimed last month he had no first-hand knowledge of the event, he told national audiences he took a peek inside a boxed file labeled “Roswell” during the mid-1990s. As a result: “I absolutely know … that there was a craft from beyond this world that crashed at Roswell, that the military picked up remains of not just the wreckage but cadavers and all of that was made public for a short while … One hundred percent guarantee, in my heart and soul I say — Roswell happened.”

Brandon added his security oath prevented him from sharing more details. But what makes him worth listening to are his credentials. A 35-year CIA veteran, he was on the media radar screen — from Popular Mechanics to Mother Jones — for his foreign intrigues long before his decision to go Roswell. At about the same time Brandon claims to have seen the Roswell material, he became the CIA’s first-ever technical consultant to Hollywood, where he reviewed scripts for image and credibility issues before lending the Agency’s imprimatur to productions.

Several things are immediately suspicious about Brandon’s revelations. Foremost is the timing, which coincides with the release of his new novel, The Cryptos Conundrum, billed as a sci-fi conspiracy thriller. Then there’s the fact that nothing he discussed about Roswell goes above and beyond anything long since in the public domain.

“Chase’s claim that he saw a box of files marked ‘Roswell’ is ridiculous,” states Sarasota researcher Tony Bragalia, who has spent years investigating Roswell. And it’s too bad because there’s so much stuff about this case that’s real and interesting.”

Brandon has not responded to De Void’s query for comment.

More juicy bits: Charles "Chase" Brandon is allegedly a cousin of actor Tommy Lee Jones. This anecdote goes back at least 10 years. And the September 1997 Popular Mechanics article is now a hot property and is online. In it, it states, "For 24 years, artist Charles "Chase" Brandon had a day job with the CIA. If you want a 3-letter crossword puzzle entry that sums up his job, try s-p-y. Brandon lived and worked abroad as an undercover agent with an alias. What's even more unusual than Brandon's choice of occupations prior to his recruitment by the CIA -- he was working as a machinist and studying for a Ph.D. in linguistics ...".

I think this implies that if Brandon saw a "box" it dates to before 1996.

Default Roswell Craft Not From This Planet

Just after WW11 the authorities were worried about what the Russians were up to.... Anything 'apparently' strange going on (unexplainable things in the sky etc) at around the time of the Roswell incident would be construed as Russian, not alien.
An 'alien' connection, regarding this most famous, well known incident (as it is today) was put forward many years after!
40+ years of reading about / studying the Roswell incident; my conclusion is:

a large balloon with state of the art atmospheric testing equipment, destined to fly high over Russian air space came down.
Not good seeing the local community had a major petition going on at the time, to stop test flights due to obvious fear of something crashing into a populated area. Funny how this is never mentioned in books etc by those who are trying to brain-wash the gullible to buy more merchandise!! Much like how it's never mentioned in any book etc about the loch ness monster that loch ness is a migration rout for basking sharks!
Kenneth Arnold's report was a few months before Roswell. This is the important bit IMO::: taking into consideration that (at the time) the authorities & the public were thinking Russians---NOT aliens:

the initial report of a 'flying saucer crash' was a quick, think fast attempt at covering up the downing of a test flight that the authorities promised would never happen! Simple...

To watch discussions/ documentaries/ TV shows etc regarding this incident does make me laugh! Like I've always said: a place like this is interesting-- not so much for insight into this enigma, more of an insight into 'people' & how they perceive what they are told; & the complete & utter CRAP some take in because it suits them!! Fascinating

dejarma - the Roswell petition, was that in a contemporary local newspaper story? That is the first I heard of that. Fascinating.
