El Cajon, California police say dozens spot strange lights floating in the sky

EL CAJON, CA - Police in El Cajon, California received dozens of phone calls after people spotted strange lights floating in the sky...

... people gathered in parking lots, looking to sky for answers. The lights were thousands of feet in the air and did not move or sway.

It turns out that a neighbor named Todd had spent $300 on balloons, helium and lights. He had the entire contraption on fishing line. The lights were more than 4,000 feet in the air.

"[It's] a 'TFO'… Todd's flying object," he said.

It is unclear if Todd will get in the trouble for the lights. He said he put them up all in good fun.

(I think this is a problem for modern ufology. The internet, instantaneous news, and rapid social connections quickly offers mundane answers for many reports that even 15 years ago would have remained a mystery and lengthened the news-cycle of these events.)

a perfect example of why I pay absolutely no attention to reports and/or videos of "lights in the sky."

either give me a direct behavior violation of known physical laws or a good photo of a space craft -- preferably both. and witnesses with high credibility and expertise regarding things that fly would be nice.

Like Darrell I don't really pay attention to lights in the sky anymore and haven't for years and have said this many times here in the past.
We do need cases we can 'sink our teeth into'....or continue to go around in circles.
I do enjoy reading about the weirder cases which is where most of my interest is these days.
